Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of W?sthof Grand Prix II 6-Inch Sandwich KnifeCustomer Review: German Perfection Summary: 5 StarsI adore this knife, tonite I effortlessly cut a watermelon up, even though it's a little short for that, it's so sharp, it just ran right through the rind! My plan is to obtain 2 or 3 more Wusthof Grand Prix knives. The craftmanship is obvious in the heavy and even feeling of the knife. Last Christmas I gave them as gifts, and everyone in my family commented on how they've become their favorites!
Description of W?sthof Grand Prix II 6-Inch Sandwich KnifeWusthof has been making the finest knives in the world for over 190 years. Through excellent craftsman ship and engineering the Grand Prix II knife line has become one of the finest knife lines in the world. Made by skilled craftsman in Solingen Germany these fine knives are precision forged out a single piece of the finest steel. This Grand Prix II 6-inch sandwich knife is the perfect slicing knife when a paring knife just isn't long enough the narrow blade allows you to make thin clean slices. The sharp fine edge blade makes slicing and spreading easy and pleasurable. Long and slender, this versatile six-inch sandwich knife performs every luncheon need, from slicing hard salami to spreading mayonnaise to trimming crusts for the kids. Wusthof's Grand Prix2 knives differ slightly from the original Grand Prix line in that they feature a redesigned handle with more ergonomic curve and a squared-off end. Contemporary in look, the pebble-grain synthetic handle is molded over an extended tang for a sure, comfortable grip. Because there is less steel in the tang, a Grand Prix2 knife offers slightly less heft than its Classic counterpart, yet more than the trim Le Cordon Bleu. All are beautifully balanced. Like all Grand Prix and Classic knives, the sandwich knife is precision forged from a single piece of high-carbon, stain-resistant steel. The blade has been impeccably ground, tapered, and polished, and its edge laser-tested for uniformity. After repeated use, the edge may be easily resharpened using a sharpening steel. Though the knife is dishwasher-safe, Wusthof recommends hand-washing all fine cutlery. Made in Germany, the knife is fully guaranteed to be free of defects in materials and/or craftsmanship. --Ann Bieri
